A female ex-boxer turned cop tackles a heady mix of crimes in the wilds of Lapland.

66 North Precinct mixes crime and black humour with the trials and tribulations of family life to create a warm and fresh new police procedural. Set in Lapland, in the world’s largest police precinct, and inspired by true crimes from the region – some expected, others bizarre – we follow Maria Pudas, an ex-world champion boxer-turned-detective inspector, as she solves cases all over the unforgiving yet beautiful landscape with the help of her partner Samu. And with Rovaniemi, her Arctic Circle hometown host to a ski centre, the tourist hot spot of Santa Land, and a university, there’s no such thing as a quiet day.

Things are seldom quiet at home either. Maria is gay, and happily married to Essi, a hospital doctor. The couple and their two children live next door to Maria’s family, who provide a loving base for boisterous gatherings. But the family has its secrets, and when Maria re-enters the boxing world to help sort some of them, it causes friction with Essi. Can Maria cope with fighting crime at work, battling it out in the ring and carrying her family’s fate of on her shoulders?
