Animal Cops Phoenix

‘Animal Cops Phoenix’ reveals the everyday activities of the dedicated wildlife rescue teams at the Arizona Humane Society. The animal’s experience is at the heart of each story as professional veterinary staff deliver expert and compassionate care, 365 days a year.

These units patrol a huge area of over 9,000 square miles across Arizona, in a unique fleet of radio-equipped emergency ambulances. This allows the large team of 17 EAMT investigators to respond swiftly to emergency calls whenever and wherever they come in. All members are fully trained and ready to deal with any animal emergency on the spot, delivering life saving care 365 days a year before they transport the animal back to base.

The rescued animals are taken back to the AHS’s Second Chance Hospital where another large team of dedicated veterinary staff give the sick, injured and abused animals the help they need before they are found new and loving homes.

The animal’s experience is at the heart of each story. Cruelty investigations are the focus of the series, supported by the work of the teams in the animal hospital and adoption and rehabilitation units.

Twelve vets and a team of veterinary technicians are constantly standing by to supply expert and compassionate care to the 12,000 animals that come through the shelter every year. The hospital occupies an entire building of its own where vets perform a range of life-saving procedures including fracture repairs, trauma surgery, wound treatment, amputations and malnourishment treatment.

Over 200 cases of animal cruelty have been pursued through the courts in the past two years. Throughout the series a number of court cases are covered, and in many cases the welfare authorities are given custody of the animals providing strong moments of resolve for the viewer.

The animal welfare team also specialize in finding new homes for a wide range of animals among the general public. The camera teams are on hand to film these moments of pure joy when the animals first arrive at their homes.
