In this extraordinary and compelling film, we explore the natural history of some of the largest living snakes in the world – the constrictors. We reveal the intricacies of the digestive process that allows a python to break down its prey – bones and all. We see the snake’s heart, pancreas, liver and kidneys increase in mass and function and reveal how they literally suck the calcium from their victim’s skeleton. For constrictors, bingeing is a way of life for which they are superbly adapted.
For predators that slither so close to the ground, monster constrictors sit quite comfortably at the top of the food chain in some of the world’s harshest environments. Covering all four corners of the globe, this journey is not for the faint-hearted.
