A Feature on 90 Years after Hitler’s Appointment as Chancellor

"Berlin 1933 - Diary of a Metropolis" chronicles the dramatic transformation of a vibrant, modern city into the capital of a totalitarian regime, offering a unique perspective through personal accounts and historical footage.

In early 1933, Berlin is one of the most modern cities in the world, full of contrasts and life. Twelve months later: the city is in the thrall of one party and one Führer.

BERLIN 1933 – DIARY OF A METROPOLIS tells the story of how Berlin, the vibrant hub of modernity, became Germany’s staunch capital city in step with the Third Reich. Contemporary journals, letters and documents, photographs and film material, form a dense collage of the dynamics of this collectively organized disaster. We observe history taking its course, from the perspective of those who were living it, witnessing the building and unfolding calamity at the moment of its inception.
