Wild Dogs – Chasing Tales

The African Wild Dog is Southern Africa’s most endangered large carnivore species. Filmed in the Save Conservancy in Zimbabwe, this series documents a team of dedicated researchers as they follow several wild dog packs, tracking their movements, monitoring denning habits, and recording their hunting techniques. The camera crew use motorbikes, equipped with motorized gimbal camera mounts for filming the dogs from a different perspective and literally run with the pack as they hunt. Aerial drones also allow the viewers a bird’s - eye view of the dogs as they go about their hunting techniques.

The African wildlife conservation team is headed by Dr. Rosemary Groom, a dedicated and passionate ecologist and conservationist. Having grown up in Zimbabwe, Rosemary has devoted her life to the protection of African wildlife species. Dr Groom is assisted by Jess Watermeyer, a wildlife enthusiast focusing on the scientific research of conservation. We join this dedicated team out in the field on a daily basis, monitoring and tracking the African wild dog in particular, but also observe other big carnivore species as they cross paths with the dogs.
