Restaurant Needs a Chef!

The restaurant industry is in crisis. With record numbers of restaurants shuttered since 2020, locations lie vacant across cities around the world. A shortage of skilled personnel in the culinary workforce has left patrons sorely missing their beloved local bistro. In this ambitious new format, two experienced restaurateurs come to the rescue of the struggling industry: connecting landlords with suitable restaurateurs to breathe new life into formerly lucrative establishments.

Leveraging their extensive networks, the pair – chefs and television personalities Frank Rosin and Alexander Kumptner in the original version – go on the hunt for potential tenants via personal social media appeals. After closely scrutinizing the applicants, the chefs each select a single restaurateur that they believe has the capability to make a success of the vacant restaurant.

The two hosts coach their chosen protégés and help them finetune their applications. Finally, the landlord decides which restaurateur wins the contract and the chance to open the restaurant of their dreams – and which of our stars is the ultimate mentor.
