Golden Eagle - Call of the Wild

PLAY

On average, only one of five fledglings will make it past its first winter. "Golden Eagle – Call of the Wild" lets the viewer feel the intense struggle to survive the extreme conditions of the high Alps.

This two-parter plays in a class of its own, starting out with the very first moments in an eagle's life. Halfway up a towering precipice, in a tiny rocky niche, we watch a small fluffy chick pecking its way out of its eggshell. We see two siblings, deadly enemies from the first moment of their lives, fighting for survival of the fittest. We see the winner learn how to fly and how to hunt.

Throughout an entire year, we follow the young bird on an adventurous odyssey from tender parental care to independence and on its challenging search for a territory of its own. Intimate images let us feel the heat of the battle when the youngster is attacked by hostile raptors, and we watch break-neck air attacks on animals of prey.
