The vast Pacific Ocean covers a third of our planet. It is home to extensive varieties of life, both above and below the waters.
The Polynesians have lived on islands in the ocean for over 1000 years, and were once the largest seafaring people on earth. They affectionately and fittingly call the sea their basis of life and mother. But how do they get the supplies they need, being isolated in the middle of the ocean? Most goods are transported by ship – such as the Aranui, which sails to the furthest and wildest islands of Polynesia: The Marquesas. Every two weeks, the Aranui sets sail to provide the people with all the goods they need, such as food, bicycles, toiletries, exercise books, and cookies. Come meet the people living on these remote islands and find out how it’s all done.
