June 1, 2015 Singapore: Singapore-based, international distribution and production agency, Bomanbridge Media, announced two Format deals in Asia.
Beauty Academy, created by A2G Creations, has been licensed by Lasta Multimedia in Vietnam. The Format previously sold in China on Dragon TV, and in Brazil on Globo TV.
Zee Tamil has licensed the appealing format, “DNA. This is the first time Zee Tamil has bought the Format and they will produce 26 episodes of this show in Tamil language. Zee Tamil is a regional general entertainment channel, based out of Chennai in South India. It is owned by the ZEE Group, one of the largest Television Networks in India. The successful Format has previously been produced in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Indonesia.
“Bomanbridge Media has licensed other successful formats in the region such as NHK’s Dr. What AND Miss Country Girl to China and are pleased to add the popular Formats, Beauty Academy and DNA to the list. We look forward to working closely with Zee and Lasta Multimedia to help them create winning versions of these shows,” said Sonia Fleck, CEO of Bomanbridge Media. “We bring hot Formats to the region, as Asian broadcasters continue to have an appetite for the genre.”
“The ultimate test for an International TV Format is in its ability to travel to distant lands, take on local flavours without losing its fundamental characteristics. We’re delighted that TV Networks in South Asia are increasingly looking to us to bring them these winning formulas for non-fiction programming,” said Arpit Agarwal, Head of Bomanbridge South Asia office.
Makeover Reality Format:
The search for the next superstar make-up stylist in Asia! A new and original TV format first adapted on Shanghai’s Dragon TV Summer (SMG) and on number 1 portal www.Tudou.com in China during 2011, Beauty Academy is the unique competition that launches a nationwide search for the country’s next star make-up artist. Of the thousands of contestants to apply, only the 12 best will make it into the Beauty Academy. Through master classes with top professionals from the beauty and fashion industry, and amazing and original challenges, these contestants will compete against each other to become the winner of this incredible contest and become a brand ambassador for an international reputable cosmetics brand.
Genetics has never been so much fun” D.N.A. is a family contest, for families. Certainly, nobody can help making comparisons between a father and a son. They say “he’s got his father’s eyes” or “he’s the spitting image of his mother. There are proverbs in every country about this family resemblance – for example “like father, like son”. This simple, fun game show divides 10 fathers/mothers on one side and 10 sons/daughters on the other side of the studio. The contestant stands in the middle and has to play the game of matching the parents and children together. Every day, a prize is awarded to the person who manages to identify all the pairs. One of the key aspects of this contest is its capacity of playfulness: every viewer at home can get involved from the very beginning and take part in the show at any given moment. No special knowledge is required, just instinct…or luck. Through various challenges offered in this format, the contestant goes through three rounds to try and decide who is family.
The D.N.A. game show is flexible – it can easily be adapted to various time segments, including prime time; an episode can run for 30 to 50 minutes. This show has been produced in Spain, Italy, India and Indonesia. Indonesia’s version was also a hit, creating “Celebrity DNA” to include celebrities and their families. There is an interactive website for viewers to play along as well.
